Description

An exceptional site between lake and mountains.

An exceptional site between lake and mountains. The cove of this port shelters the boats of the village. At the end of the bay, the Roc de Chère, a mountain plunging into the lake and marking the limit between the "Grand Lac" (part of the lake on the Annnecy side) and the end of the lake also called "Petit Lac". For over a thousand years, the bay has been home to the Talloires Abbey, which has now been transformed into a hotel. Houses have replaced the vineyards once worked by the monks, and the Château de Duingt can be seen enthroned on a peninsula on the other side of the lake. The Château de Duingt is surrounded by its two mountains plunging into the waters of the lake: the Taillefer and the Roc des Bœufs.
